Unusual Things To Do In London This Weekend | 25 – 28 June 2015
Your one-stop culture shop – everything you really need to know if you’re looking for quirky, kooky or unusual things to do in London this weekend!
Thursday 25th June – Sunday 28th June 2015
A play – written, produced and directed by the founding members of Tressillian Collective – which focuses on a group of Internet addicts who meet in a church hall to deal with their addiction.
They Say: The collision of our online and offline lives – a play for anyone who has found themselves lost on the internet.
A spectacular outdoor immersive performance depicting a society where reading is forbidden and all books must be burned. Expect an inventive staging featuring moving structures and plenty of pyrotechnics.
A range of events, many FREE, which will showcase London’s varied LGBT+ cultural scene – featuring exhibitions of visual art, spoken word, film, photography, sculpture and other work by LGBT+ artists.
A “temporary utopian city of installations, dens and assemblages” springs up in Hackney Wick, just opposite the Olympic Park, featuring art, talks, workshops, poetry, performances and more!
They Say: Forget Glastonbury, this is a free space, an art city where money has been abolished, and the only place to be in response to the London Festival of Architecture.
Doug Aitken’s project Station to Station: A 30 Day Happening takes over the Barbican Centre – a fusion of international and UK-based artists from the world of contemporary art, music, dance, graphic design and film.
Border Force – Queering the Borders for Gay Shame – is Duckie’s big night out for Pride Weekend, an immersive nightclub & disko-show about freedom of movement.
They Say: Join Duckie in a globalised clubland where we challenge the drag of national identity, confront xenophobia and queer the borders. Dress code, travel fashion: beach bum, business exec, expat, hetero holidaymaker, hitchhiker, pirate, trolly dolly, sex tourist, budgie smuggler.
Part of Hackney WickED DIY Open Studios 2015, Ben Hopper throws his studio doors open to the public. There will be “a very special clearance sale with super crazy bonkers discounts”, raising money for Ben’s forthcoming North America trip!
