June To Do List – Loserville, a real humdinger…
We’re not blowing our own trumpet (wish we could) but we think June’s Loserville to do list is a real humdinger! Slut walk, sex worker films, geeky cinema romp, a celebration of polyester, Soho Theatre’s new secret space and free spectacular festival should be enough to whet your appetite! Enjoy and please email us with your suggestions and additions at events@loserville.tv Much love! xxx
Volunteering Week | Weds 1 – Tues 7 June | All over the UK
We think volunteering is an ace thing to do and lots of people are organising events for volunteering week. You can get jobs you actually like, no money but a really nice extra thing to do in addition to paid work.

Slut Walk | Sat 11 June | 1pm | Top of Piccadilly near the Hard Rock Cafe
We like their tagline ‘The radical notion that nobody deserves to be raped.’ and believe this attempt to reclaim the streets is wholly great thing to be a part of. Try and spot us in our short shorts!
The First Ever London Sex Worker Film Festival | Sun 12 June | 1.15pm-5.30pm | Rio Cinema, Dalston | £9 /£7 concessions (bargainous if you ask us)
Short movies and documentaries about the oldest profession in the world. We think it also sounds like a fascinating insight into the industry and does much to aid the empowerment of sex workers. Particularly, NORMAL a documentary about immigrant sex workers and NI COUPABLES, NI VICTIMES a polymorphic conversation with sex workers about their lives, loves and desires.
Welcome to the Dollhouse | Weds 15 June | The Book Club, Shoreditch
One of our favourite movies, a cunning dissection of teenage pain and beautifully played by the awkwardly brilliant Heather Matarazzo. Watch the trailer here. This showing is presented by Amy Grimehouse and will be accompanied by chocolate late, scorching performance and the chance to air your own teenage pain. We still are teenagers here at Loserville. Strops off.

Lorraine Bowen’s Polyester Fiesta! | Thurs 16 June | Battersea Barge, Vauxhall
Couldn’t really describe this awesome oddity so we copied and pasted this ‘Lorraine Bowen celebrates polyester and its 70 year birthday with 2 dancers, a geeky scientist and a glorious wardrobe mistress. It’s a cabaret catwalk show, tightly woven with songs, dances, scientific highlights and 4 suitcases of outfits!’
Soho Theatre Downstairs Opening | Mid June | Soho Theatre, Soho
Ok we’re a bit biased as we’re working there sometimes, but we still think it’s the best theatre in London with the essence of Loserville: cabaret, comedy and theatre. And guess what?…You’re keen!…well they’re opening a new cabaret space with a rather awesome line up including Loserville favourites: Tiger Lillies, Suitcase Royale & Justin Bond (Shortbus! Nuff said!) and loads more.
Greenwich + Docklands International Festival | Fri 24 June – Sat 2 July | Greenwich & Dockland | FREE
We’re still reeling in joy from the last event we went to in this super free festival in our part of town…the show was so spectacular with projection, live performance and fireworks all set at the Queen’s House in Greenwich. Click the link above for this years stellar festival brochure or here. Our highlight is: Greenwich Fair (24-26 June) a huge outdoor festival within a festival stuffed with travelling shows, gravity defying entertainment and interactive fun.

I am Joint Editor at To Do List. I like free, cheap & offbeat London, especially: cabaret, art, theatre, pop-ups, eating out, quirky films, museums, day trips, social enterprise & much more.
