Fuel present site-specific free-running project The Roof, in association with National Theatre & Lift
“A door opens and an immaculate figure steps out onto a roof. Knives are sharpened and the game begins…”
The Roof | Doon Street Car Park (South Bank) | 30 May – 28 June | £24.50-£29.50
Commissioned by LIFT as part of the Imagine 2020 network, The Roof is an exhilarating panoramic experience under the night sky, in a purpose-built venue from London Paralympics opening ceremony set designer Jon Bausor.
Directors David Rosenberg and Frauke Requardt (Electric Hotel, Motor Show) orchestrate a breathless mix of 360 degree hair-trigger movement, influenced by free running and set against the skyline of London, with intimate, three dimensional music and sound by Dave Price.
To Do List Review
We braved the rain of Bristol to catch an early glimpse of what promises to be a phenomenon in London.
Defying the weather, The Roof cast gave an electric performance to a sold-out audience. A perfectly executed combination of amazing original music, free-running, spectacular lighting and sound design came together for a 60 minutes exploration of life, gaming and how the two overlap.
Our only advice would be: bring a hooded jacket! But seriously, if the forecast isn’t great it’s worth getting wet for – don’t miss this unique, experimental mash-up of theatre, dance, and 360° spectacle!
