Infamous Alt-Drag Super-Troupe The LipSinkers Share Their To Do List
Those crazy LipSinkers, Rhyannon Styles, John Sizzle, Lisa Lee, Richardette and Blanche DuBois, took a break from ‘prancing around looking ludicrously fabulous’ to tell us what’s getting them excited in London this year…
And don’t miss them tonight (February 1st) and the first Friday of every month at The RVT!
Tell us about your favourite secret/offbeat places in London?
We like to pop in through The Pale Blue Door, a secret restaurant in Dalston, fuel our love of City Road with club legend Wayne Shires at East Bloc, preen our posh streak with the nimble touch of an expert masseur at Triyoga, Chelsea, mix our drinks at The George & Dragon, and take a dip in The Serpentine Lake – absolutely mind-blowing!
What offbeat events are on your To Do List in the next month or so?
UnderConstruction – the performance platform for new work returns to The RVT on Thursday 21st Feb. 12 artists will be presenting new work – including our very own Rhyannon Styles & Blanche Du Bois, as well as Tricity Vogue, Marcus Reeves, Nando Messias, to name but a few. We’re also looking forward to the Vogue Fabrics takeover at the ICA, and when we’re feeling lucky there’s always Gay Bingo!
What are your favourite things to do for free or little money in London?
Cycle, skateboard, snog, totter, tango, spin, skate, pogo, piggyback, pushchair or simply stroll around the city. Totally free, utterly priceless!!
What’s your ultimate London confession?
To quote John Sizzle “We are the world’s first alt-drag lipsinking Christian super-troupe” – we are way beyond confession!
What event or product of your own would you like to pimp on To Do List?
The LipSinkers at The RVT the first Friday of the month throughout 2013 – Doors 8pm – Show 9.30pm – mega-disco after-show party til late with Sqeaky (Dalston Superstore) & John Sizzle (Vogue Fabrics) til late. And the next one on 1st of Feb is Richardette’s 40th, & we’re shortlisted for a London Cabaret Award – so we’ll be having it large!
I am Joint Editor at To Do List. I like free, cheap & offbeat London, especially: cabaret, art, theatre, pop-ups, eating out, quirky films, museums, day trips, social enterprise & much more.
