Shutterbug Eccentric Crêpes in Shoreditch
Shutterbug | 1 Rivington Place, London EC2A 3BA | Mon-Weds: 8am-6pm Thurs-Sat: 8am-midnight Sun: 10am-6pm | Twitter | Facebook
We are smitten with Shutterbug, a new experimental pancake ‘n’ cocktails speakeasy in the heart of Shoreditch, London. Parisian chef and crêpe expert supreme, Romain Ragouin is the culinary mastermind behind Shutterbug’s unique daily menu, and the foodie top bananas behind our new haunt are school friends, Cathy Radojcin and Sasha Rainey.
The current gorgeously inventive crepe flavours include:
Savoury:
Goats cheese, spinach, walnuts and fig relish
Chorizo, egg, roasted peppers and fresh chilli
Sweet:
Red velvet crepe with mascarpone and strawberries, aka the sexiest pancake ever (pictured above)
Salted caramel
Honey, almond and mascarpone
We caught up with Cath Radojcin, co-conspiritor of the yummiest pancakes in town. So, why crêpes?
Cathy: “I have fond childhood memories of crêpes, they were always the fun meal that we had when my dad worked late. My mum had a handwritten recipe in which the batter had to sit for two hours before we could start.
We used to hang out in the kitchen chatting while she made them. With five kids, you had to wait a while for your one but the contrast of the lemon juice with the sugar on the hot crepe was so good it kept you going until your next one.”
YUMMO!
