Review: Space by Luxmuralis at St Martin-in-the-Fields ★★
While it’s undeniably fun to see this landmark church in a new light, the sound and light experience offered by Luxmuralis feels like no more than an immersive screensaver experience.
★★ Space by Luxmuralis | St Martin-in-the-Fields | Until 21 February 2026
For the tourists taking in the sights of Trafalgar Square, there’s a new (or rather, returning) attraction currently filling up camera rolls, in the shape of Luxmuralis’s Space-themed illuminations splashed across and within the church of St Martin-in-the-Fields.

At £10 for an adult ticket, Space by Luxmuralis is hardly fleecing those on the prowl for a diverting way to pass 45 minutes in the very heart of London – but somehow, that affordable ticket price still feels like a bit of a liberty for an immersive experience that feels like a theme park rollercoaster queue missing the final thrill.

En route to a 15-minute seated display in the church itself, patrons are routed down into a crypt sparingly embellished with light-art installations which feel, at best, like you’re standing inside a slowly revolving disco light array. Once you arrive in the church itself, and perch upon one of the pews, a looping 15 minute sequence of surprisingly low-res projections and under-powered music groove more meditative than awesome.

It’s all just a bit underwhelming – a trip through the Space experience, which is intended to “redefine the experiential immersive art world by combining art, sound, history and centuries-old architecture” feels instead like an immersive recreation of a souped-up Windows 95 screensaver.
I am Joint Editor at To Do List. I like: nice pubs, film marathons, not doing real marathons, bad comedy, plays/musicals with shorter second halves, and the Oxford comma.
