Proper Peckham in Pictures by Marcus Hessenberg
Peckham is becoming more and more known for the hipster bars and Victorian housing stock. Whether you know the area or are new, take time to get to know the Peckham that is Rye Lane.
A strong community of people live and work here and rather than trying the new bar down the road with exposed brick wall and assorted coffee cups, try a Nigerian takeaway or go get your eyes threaded for £3.

Peckham Rye Station Arcade – the plans are to demolish this building – what will happen to the business with in is uncertain – from hairdressers to veg shops, dentists to cafes.

Rye Lane is a very busy high street, full of meat shops, chains and bargain stores. Food ranges from Nigerian, Ghanaian, Middle Eastern, Jamaican and Persian.

North Peckham was heavily bombed in the war – the architecture varies from one extreme to the other.
