OSCAR at The Crown at Edinburgh Fringe ★★★★
★★★★ OSCAR at The Crown | Assembly George Square Gardens | Aug 11-15, 17-22, 24-27 | 9:40pm
An addictive technicolour trip into the Wilde life!

This immersive club style show is dopamine for the soul, and offers a welcome break from sitting in uncomfortable wedding chairs elsewhere on the Fringe! It also allows us to dance and Instagram live to our hearts content – what a way to end the night (or get it started)!
The show is maybe a little shallow, and there isn’t a whole lot of plot – but the music is great, and the central performance of Mark Mauriello is supremely queer, iconic and roof-raising.
The musical channels Six, Rocky Horror Show and Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens to create a joyful inclusive space, with insane TikTok style dance routines and banging floor fillers.
Ultimately a little more needs to go into the annunciation, and everyone would probably benefit from a minute to breathe – then the storytelling would have space to truly pop, but the concept is unique and hopefully will takeover dance floors around the world.
