Merry May To Do List!

Merry May to all of you folks, not just because it’s this writer’s 25th Birthday and he’s off to Eurovision to bring you all the action…

Reykjavik | 10-14 May | 7.30pm | The Albany, Deptford

Spooky, immersive, innovative theatre experience for just 25 audience members at a time in a journey of discovery through the realms of neuroscience…sounds all very Twin Peaks to me.

BAC Scratch Nights | Various dates and times | BAC, Lavender Hill

Watch the hottest upcoming theatre companies do their stuff miles ahead of the general public and it’s pay what you can. But be sure to book a ticket online! Our highlight is the delightful ‘Koe‘ by the offbeat and dreamy Hey Ho Ha company, we hope to see you there on Saturday 7th.

Time Out presents Alternative Eurovision | 14 May | Udderbelly, Southbank Centre

We went last year and had a riot, last years winners Bourgeois & Maurice are back with a stonking piss take of the boy/man band phenomenon as well as trannytastic La John Joseph & Scottee and the offbeat cheekiness of Ginger & Black…see below for video of them…

Museums at Night | 13-15 May | Various Locations

We like raving in museums when we should have been kicked out, our highlights are Dr Johnson’s House, The Government Art Collection and our favourite secret London museum, The Old Operating Theatre as they do a superbly scary event “Surgery by Gaslight”.

Accidental Festival | 19-22 May | Roundhouse, Camden

Central School of Speech and Drama’s irreverent festival which is cheap, chic and features cabaret, cutting edge theatre, short films and a new performance by wacky performance veterans Forced Entertainment.

And if you fancy a weekend away…try jetting off on the National Express for just £2 the Brighton Festival Fringe…discover some great acts including wonderful free street theatre and intimate cabaret in the new Playgroup venue.
