re:publica 2012 – Day One – Make Love Not Porn

To Do List is in Berlin for re:publica 2012, a conference which explores the future of our society and all things digital.

Obviously, we were ready to give the keynote speech, but there were some administrative difficulties (they’d never heard of us the email got caught in a spam filter or something).

So, we’re here as regular punters, and having a great time. Great venue (STATION-Berlin), great city, great beer.

re:publica 2012 - Day One - Make Love Not Porn 1The highlight of day one was definitely Cindy Gallop, who’s 6:15pm slot “Make Love Not Porn” was a standing-room only affair. (We were going to say that lots of people came, but that would have been childish).

Cindy is an inspirational speaker, and really cares about her mission. She’s not anti-porn, she does not judge those who watch and enjoy porn, but she questions the negative impact that it has on real-world sexual relationships. The motto is simple: Pro Sex. Pro Porn. Pro Knowing the Difference.

Cindy set the ball rolling back in 2009 with the TED presentation below (watch it – it’s only 4 minutes, and Cindy replies to nearly all of the YouTube comments herself), and the launch of http://makelovenotporn.com/. This summer will see the launch of a top-secret project, MakeLoveNotPorn.tv (you can sign up to take part in the Beta).
