London To Do List – 1-7 September
Our fab weekly London To Do List continues, with plenty of free, cheap and offbeat treats to get you through the week!
A month-long festival of film at venues across London & beyond! This week, the programme includes such diverse films as Mandela: Long Road to Freedom (Wood Green Vue, Monday), The Last House on the Left (Prince Charles Cinema, Wednesday at 8:45pm), Footloose (Fulham Palace, Thursday at 8pm), Logan’s Run (Hollywood Spring, Friday at 8pm) & Vertigo (The Rooftop Cinema, Peckham, Sunday at 8pm).
A talented, all-male ensemble explore Emily Bronte’s classic story of Cathy, Heathcliffe and all that moping about on moors. Thankfully, the music of Kate Bush and a dance or two should brighten this up no end.
The Unlimited festival celebrates the artistic vision and originality of disabled artists, promising a diverse range of theatre, dance, music, literature, comedy and visual arts that places centre stage a spirit of artistic adventure, honesty and humour.
San Francisco’s Fauxnique hosts en evening dedicated to female drag queens! Performance artist and dancer Monique Jenkinson may be a woman, but she can still ‘lipsynch for her life’ as well as dancing, singing and offering up some choice philosophical musings

Circus meets boylesque in this cheeky, sexy, extravagant exhibition of boys showing off! Gasp one minute, guffaw the next, and beware in the front row – not for the shy, fainthearted or chronically miserable.
After hosting free fringe, music and theatre, it’s the turn of free cinema at The Scoop. This year, the eclectic programme includes The Truman Show, The Goonies & Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

Cara Cummings (pictured) hosts the monthly variety showcase where 10 entertainers battling to the death (well, not quite to the death) for audience votes and the coveted Cheese ‘n’ Crackers Platter.
Expect a selection box of cabaret acts, burlesque performers, comedy, stand-up, musical theatre, magic… Anything goes!
Poeticat is an energetic and unique rock band infusing elements of progressive, experimental and psychedelic music with a punk attitude. They’re touring London throughout September, and this week they’re popping up at:

- Friday – Fighting Cocks, Kingston
- Saturday – Pipeline, Shoreditch
