London To Do List – 7th-11th May 2014
Our fab weekly London To Do List continues, with plenty of free, cheap and offbeat treats to get you through the week!
// All Week //
An imaginative programme of new commissions celebrating communities and creativity in the borough, now with the addition of an inclusive Fringe programme which shines a light on what’s going on in Wandsworth as well as providing a platform for new work and fresh talent.
// Wednesday //
This is a ludicrous showcase of world-class Latin and UK circus talent – an over-the-top and creative lineup of burlesque acts, contortionists, ballerinas, fire-breathers, and much more. And with a meal from a huge menu and Caipirinha cocktail included, it’s a feast for the belly as well as the eyes. Get your samba on!
An un-holy marriage of karaoke and T-shirts.
They Say: Mike Hot Breath is scooping out his brain and putting it on 20 limited edition t-shirts that he will be giving away quite literally for a song. That I heart NY shirt you wear to the gym that you bought on your first trip to the States? Bin it. That ex-boyfriends Black Flag t-shirt that you still sometimes sleep in? Put it to bed. Get your self down to Ace Hotel, kill some siongs on stage and win yourself one more day of putting the washing off. In a months time when the hamper’s starting looking like Kilimanjaro again, you’ll thank me.
// Thursday //
Think of all the excess and weirdness from the ’80s you can muster – from Soft Cell to Spinal Tap – and stick it on a stage. Featuring the Cabaret All-Star ’80s Supergroup, aerial acrobatics, music, street dancing, and more.
The opening gala of the glorious Spiegeltent brings out a bunch of crazy, kitsch, classic and calamitous performances, hosted by DJ Anna Greenwood and featuring a host of the best of the festival, this is sure to be the silliest night of the season.
Featuring Anna Greenwood, Benjamin Louche, Bourgeois and Maurice, Des O’Connor, Dusty Limits, Femmes on the Thames, Flange Krammer, Tom Moans, Ida Barr, Lili La Scala, and Roulston & Young.
