And we know what else you’ll be wanting to know: that pop-up craze, is that still a thing? WHY YES, DEAR READER. Pop-ups are very much still a thing – so here’s our guide to some of the best London outdoor pop-ups to enjoy this summer!
Backyard Cinema Music Film Festival | Camden Market | 8-14 August
An outdoor summer festival dedicated to music films where you can take your pick between beanbags and deckchairs, to enjoy films including Marley, A Hard Day’s Night and Ray!
Dalston Roof Park | Dalston
Perfect for a weekday evening or a weekend afternoon – ‘an urban utopian oasis’ with a full-to-bursting events list.
They Say: “We’ve got something to suit everyone – from poetry nights to clothes swaps, film screenings to yoga, and music nights covering EVERY genre imaginable! Disco, hip-hop, house, funk, soul, indie, reggae, electro – you name it, we’ve got it.”
Extravaganza Macabre at BAC’s New Open-air Theatre | Clapham Junction
The new show from pop culture cutesies Little Bulb Theatre is the debut for the Battersea Arts Centre’s new courtyard outdoor space.
Festival of Love | Southbank Centre | Until 31 August
Festival of Love returns to the Southbank Centre for whole host of love-themed activities, performances, music, exhibitions and free events
The fun will be – weather allowing – inside and out.
Farmopolis at The Jetty | From 30 July 2016 | North Greenwich
The Jetty is a temporary platform for unusual events, just a short walk from The O2.
This summer the space is being turned into a floating oasis of flora and fauna promising a programme of live music, experiential supperclubs, literary salons, immersive theatre, creative workshops and talks, transforming the Jetty into a hub of creativity and wellbeing.
London Wonderground | Southbank | Until 27 September
One of our summer homes away from home, London Wonderground, is back wowing the crowds on the Southbank with an amazing programme of cabaret, comedy, circus and MORE! And even if you don’t feel like being entertained, you can eat and drink in the beautiful, Coney Island-style bar area.
Model Market | Lewisham | Friday & Saturday until 4 October | 5pm – 1am | FREE Before 7pm (£3 After)
Lewisham might not necessarily be known for its hip culinary delights, but Street Feast’s summer popup, Model Market, made a big splash last year and returns for 2015. Located in an abandoned 1950s indoor and outdoor market just off Lewisham High Street, expect fantastic street food, cracking drinks, great music and the usual wonderful crowd.
Oval Space Summer Terrace | Cambridge Heath | June – September
Oval House have teamed up with Behind This Wall to turn their much-loved outdoor space into a “daytime work space, lunch-spot, terrace bar and evening BBQ”. There’s also a growing programme of events including terrace film nights, voga classes, busker jam & open-deck sessions, vinyl markets, and record store residencies.
Summer Tales | Old Street | From £10
The summer incarnation of Night Tales brings together fine food, experimental bar culture and nightlife. If you’re felling swish, book a cabana, a bungalow, or even the treehouse (you might need some friends to help you pay!).
