Camden Fringe + Hot August Fringe + Shoreditch Fringe = London Fringe
Too much money, hassle and Irn Bru at the Edinburgh Fringe?
Why not get your glad rags on and Fringe it up in London without a whiff of haggis. All shows we’ve featured below are under £10.
Camden Fringe
1. Staffroom (pictured above) | 20-25 August | 7.30pm | Tristan Bates Theatre | £10/8
We thought the blurb for this show was brill and we’re missing our Teachers DVD boxset:
Open the Staffroom door and spend an academic year with the staff of Parkview Behaviour Support Unit as they experience the highs and lows of Ofsted inspections, romances and arson. A darkly comic play for those who have always wondered what the teachers have to say when no one else is listening.
Working here isn’t a job, it’s an education.
2. Will You Hold My Hand by We are Goose | 10-12 August | 8pm | The Camden Head | £8
Learn about enlightenment scientist, John Hunter & the macabre world of 18th century surgery in this comedy geekfest.
3. Sarah Campbell: Experiments in Fun | 17-19 August 2012 | 6.30pm | The Camden Head | £5
Writer for #HIGNFY and Russell Howard’s Good News, Sarah Campbell presents her work-in-progress around the theme of not enjoying the things you’re supposed to and vice-versa.
Hot August Fringe
1. Dexter Clarke’s Fabulous Head | 13, 15 & 29 August | 7 pm | Royal Vauxhall Tavern | £7 includes entry to later
shows
Froth and follicles with a sharp pair of silver scissors in this celebrity hairdresser spoof.
2. Holestar’s Take Me On | Thu 16 August | 10pm | Royal Vauxhall Tavern | £7
Here’s our preview for Holestar’s parody of the famous ITV game show Take Me Out, which will help gay men find lasting love (not just sex!). We can’t wait for the HAF edition.
3. Kathakali Kabaret, Jayde Adams & The Lipsinkers | Fri 31st August | Royal Vauxhall Tavern | £7 for all 3 shows
Fantastic line up of Indian performing arts, one-woman comedy cabaret and our favourite trannies, The Lipsinkers are in town!
Shoreditch Fringe

This retrospective look at 21 years of Blur includes over 70 images from music photographers, designers and artists such as Banksy, Julian Opie & Pennie Smith.
2. Future Human presents Smash Publishing | Weds 22nd August | The Book Club | £10
Guests: Henry Volans (Head of Digital, Faber & Faber), Joanna Penn (author and digital entrepreneur), Mark
Edwards (#1 Amazon Bestseller)
At Future Human, guests are invited to open their minds, become a part of the show and debate important ideas of the age with pioneering thinkers. Join us in August for Smash Publishing, where we will discover how digital authors are dismantling the books business.
3. Amy Grimehouse presents Showgirls | Weds 29th August | 7.30pm | The Book Club | £6 Advance
Our favourite kitsch pop-up film club presents one of the best/worst movies of all time about stripping with live pole-dancing demonstration and nasty performances.

I am Joint Editor at To Do List. I like free, cheap & offbeat London, especially: cabaret, art, theatre, pop-ups, eating out, quirky films, museums, day trips, social enterprise & much more.
