Fashion Victim – The Musical @ Roxy Bar & Screen | Friday 15th & Saturday 16th February | 7pm | £10 / VIP Front Row from £50
FASHION VICTIM – THE MUSICALis “a thoroughly modern morality tale set in the cut throat world of la mode. Boo, hiss or cheer – as you see fit – the chutzpah of Mimi Steele in this story of laughs, love and sharp practices in the cutting edge world of fashion.”
In advance of two performances with live actors at the Roxy Bar & Screen on Borough High Street, we caught up with the writer Toby Rose to talk Fashion Victims, offbeat London, cheap thrills and confessions…
What’s ‘Fashion Victim – The Musical’ all about then, sounds brill?
A cautionary tale of how far you take the schmooze. Both giving and taking.

What was it like working with the legend Michelle McManus on your show ‘Discotivity’?
Michelle was instant New Best Friend and the most Full hearted Virgin Mary I could imagine. We shared a flat in Edinburgh for a month and Had a truly ace time giving the Nativity a disco Beat.

Tell us about your favourite secret/offbeat places in London?
My discovery has been Caravan first in Exmouth Market. Then in its new bigger version in King’s Cross. Another haunt is a basement hideaway called the New Bloomsbury Bar. A spot for the same-sex crowd which always offers a warm welcome.

What offbeat events are on your To Do List in 2013?
This year I want to spend time in Marseille where it is European city of culture. This seaport is a gateway to all manner of fun under the sun.
_
What are your favourite things to do for free or little money in London?
My bestest favourite cheap thrill in London is a cuppa in Maria’s Market Cafe in Borough Market. Maria heads up a fun-loving bunch of ladies who treat the counter as their stage as they serve up bubble and saucy comments. Give me a bacon butty here over a venison burger any day!

What’s your ultimate London confession?
I know someone who nicks toilets rolls from The Royal Opera House.
