Christmas #EatMeUp Market – Celebrating New App HitMeUp
The Christmas #EatMeUp | 6-8 December | 11am-11pm Red Market, 288-299 Old Street | FREE
RSVP on Facebook here // The HitMeUp app is available for download from 6th December
Right, tell us what’s not to like about this: a Christmas street-food/pop up shop market right in the heart of Shoreditch, with live music and DJs, a bar, and projections on the building all day ’til 11pm. See, all good stuff!
Everyday there are 15 of London’s leading street food vendors. Visitors can discover amazing food traders like Street Kitchen, Tongue ‘n Cheek and Bhangra Burger, whilst also unlocking market secrets using the latest in street food technology – the HitMeUp iPhone app.
Using the app, traders will be able to communicate directly with visitors to the market, posing them a host of challenges, competitions, party tricks and give-aways. Examples include “Sing the entire Flower of Scotland for a free venison burger” (from the Wild Game Company) or a “Free burrito for anyone with a handlebar moustache” (from Luardos).
Once you’ve eaten yourself silly, you’ll be able to buy all your Christmas presents at stalls from local designers and retailers; Alternative London, the pied pipers of the East End, will be on site conducting street art workshops; there’ll be Mulled wine a-plenty and local brews ;and live music (including members of Riot Jazz and the Vagabond Trills) will complete the festive glow.
If that’s not enough (NOT ENOUGH? YOU CRAZIES!), after-party’s are located at various clubs in the local area for those that want to keep the fun and frolics going.
The HitMeUp app is described on the App Store as:
- Outrageously cool promotions going on around you right now.
- Do a dance for a drink….sing for your supper….kiss the bouncer for free entry…
- Streetfood, independent restaurants, bars, clubs, pubs and pop-ups: they’re all running ridiculous promotions – find out where they are…….It’s like the ice cream van music, but less creepy.
- Launching in Shoreditch in November, the rest of London in December, and taking over the world in 2013.
