Founders Frank Yeung and Nick Birkett have painstakingly restored a run down shop on Rye Lane to create Mr Bao, a unique great value dining experience for all. The pair pride themselves on top quality fresh ingredients, aged teas from Taiwan and an eclectic cocktail menu.
They say:
“We’ve loved bao buns since we first tasted them in the Far East. We chose Peckham because we believe in the spirit of the area. The Rye Lane site we have selected for Mr Bao has been empty for over a year.
The entire east side of Rye Lane needs love, many of the buildings are fire damaged and empty. Keep an eye out, we are going to breath life into that area and you’re going to see significant change.”
Here’s some of our top menu picks:
- Mr Bao: Slow Braised Flock + Herd Pork, Pickles, Peanut Powder
- Bao Diddley: Pulled free range Chicken, Kimchi, Wasabi Mayo
-
Millionaire’s bacon ribs
-
Bao S’Mores with marshmallow and honeycomb ice cream
