To Do List’s Guide to London Apps & Deals: Bring on the Cheap Thrills!
To Do List prides itself on bringing you invaluable tips and recommendations on how to live a cheap and cheerful life en Londres.
And it occurred to us that we use a few nifty smartphone apps, and make use of some crafty deals, and that we should share these with all of you lucky people!
So here we go – our guide to some of the best London apps and deals:
APPS
1. London Official City Guide | Free for Android & iPhone
There are so many breathtaking, amazing, brilliant, fun, free and unmissable things happening in London this summer. This app funded by the Mayor of London covers lots of them, from the London 2012 Festival, Mayor of London Presents and their partners. You’ll also receive alerts on special offers, secret events and London announcements.
We found the navigation easy and notifications useful, particularly for Surprises: STREB which saw high flying antics on and around major London landmarks.

2. Time Out London App | Free for Android & iPhone
Fantastic sharable listings app with great maps & contact details for events, and also a nice ‘Inspire Me’ feature. As yet no specific offers coverage, but here’s hoping…
3. Riverside London App | Free for Android & iPhone
This is an innovative FREE what’s on guide for events, shopping, eating and drinking along London’s riverside. This handy app is essential for Londoners and tourists alike, featuring events from world-famous attractions including the EDF Energy London Eye, Southbank Centre, BFI, National Theatre, Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe, Borough Market, Tower Bridge and The London Dungeon. It’s made by Discover London Bridge, Visit Bankside & SouthbankLondon.com.
Augmented reality: Hold up your device and step into Riverside London for an eye-opening augmented reality experience. Press the Reality view button on your phone to instantly find out what’s happening in the venues and spaces around you.

4. Deal Apps
So, yeah, we’re kind of still on Apps – but specifically of the wheeler-dealer variety! There’s no excuse not to be making use of Vouchercloud, Vouchercodes and o2 Moments (if you’re an o2 customer obv!), and of course there’s the Toptable app, which has some great offers (including some 50% off deals).
5. Loyalty = Cheap
And moving away from phone-based fun and frolics, and back into the real world, there are some good old-fashioned Loyalty Card-type schemes that are worth a go:
BiteCard from SSP offers a permanent discount of 10% to card holders, from a whole range of National Rail station food and drink retailers, including Burger King, Upper Crust, The Pasty Shop etc.. Sign up for one here

I am Joint Editor at To Do List. I like free, cheap & offbeat London, especially: cabaret, art, theatre, pop-ups, eating out, quirky films, museums, day trips, social enterprise & much more.
