To Do List's Alternative Oscar Nominations 2015

To Do List’s Alternative Oscar Nominations 2015

No Shiny Statuette. No Winners Actually. Just The Best Films & Performances We Saw In The Last Year. Simple.

At 1:30pm GMT on Thursday 15th January, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hit peak relevance for the year with the announcement of their nominations for the 87th Academy Awards.

The awards themselves are, of course, the shiny cherry on the cake for the lucky recipients. But remember – Sandra Bullock won for The Blind Side (!), Crash beat Brokeback Mountain (!!), and both title-songs from Footloose  and Ghostbusters were overlooked in favour of Stevie Wonder’s ‘I Just Called to Say I Love You’ from The Woman in Red (!!!).

So, if you must rely on the Oscars to tell you what films were good, look no further than the nominations. Or, EVEN BETTER, check out our list of the best films and performances we’ve seen in the last year, with our alternative Oscar nominations…

I am Joint Editor at To Do List. I like: nice pubs, film marathons, not doing real marathons, bad comedy, plays/musicals with shorter second halves, and the Oxford comma.
