★★★★★ Huawei P9 | £369 (via GiffGaff pay today)
We were definitely intrigued to see our favourite camera brand Leica teaming up with the Huawei. And yes we’ve been lucky enough to get our hands on a Leica camera powered Huawei P9 and are chuffed with the ★★★★★ results.
Here’s 5 reasons why we love this Chinese marvel:
- Unbeatable Battery Life: We have tried our best to drain this battery with 4G social networking, taking high res video & photos and watching Youtube but NO we cannot make this battery run out. The P9 also has a great power monitor feature which reminds you about apps which are draining the battery the most, handy for when you forget you’ve left Whatsapp open. So no need to carry around one of those brick portable chargers then!
Dual Camera: The camera is super sexy for keen photo nerds like ourselves, it has a dual-lens which means more light for dark situations and more vivid daylight shots. We had a ball at Model Market in Lewisham taking risky shots all night and getting great results.
- Finger print sensor on the back: At first this seemed strange, but since my OnePlus 2 phone’s fingerprint sensor was buggered in the rain by being on the front and getting wet it was lovely to have it a bit hidden.
- Touchable Design: Although slightly iPhonesque we love the premium metal feel. The screen size is big but still manageable in even the most petite of claws.
- Signal+++: Compared to other phones I’ve had I seem to get more signal strength and also a better wifi connection, which is auto off when you go out of range (saving the battery!)

★★★★ Paypal Here Card Reader | £79.95
The rise of Del Boy, maker shaker London is up on us. We make, we sell, we serve beer. And altogether now, we shout: ‘DO YOU TAKE CARD!?’. Well you should, the fees are tiny and it’s super easy to take payments anywhere you are with your phone/tablet with the Paypal Here Card Reader.
We’ve used it at our vintage market stall and think it’s essential, no excuses, you like paying on card and so do your London customers.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”white” border_width=”10″][vc_separator color=”white” border_width=”10″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
★★★★ Rotolight RL48 | From £69.99
Support a UK business based at Pinewood Studios whilst getting some seriously flattering light for your subject with our fave Rotolight.
Nice features include:
- It’s round and stylish.
- It’s very bright but doesn’t use much power.
- In the box comes a couple of filters for different light temperatures.

★★★★★ Wave Apps | Free
Wave Apps is a godsend for the freelance community, it’s a completely free, feature packed invoicing, accounting & payments tool.
Why pay for Sage when you can send pretty invoices from your mobile, get the lowest rate of credit card processing online and keep the tax man happy (well off your back at least).[/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”white” border_width=”10″][vc_separator color=”white” border_width=”10″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
★★★★★ Power Rocker Cables | From £5.49
If you have any USB-C devices such as the Huawei P9 or a OnePlus phone you will find it tough to buy a cable in a shop. However, Powerocker’s pretty range of charging/sync cables are available on Amazon. We find them sturdy, attractive and great value (compared to the £25.99 we were recently faced with by Belkin’s cables at Maplin). And that’s about all we have to say about a cable.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”white” border_width=”10″][vc_separator color=”white” border_width=”10″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
★★★★ Polaroid Cube+ | £129.99
GoPro go home, we’re loving the retro stylings and cuteness of this Wifi enabled action cam. The accessories are to die for including little monkey stand (pictured), bike mounts and a suction cup holder for sticking to your fish tank.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”white” border_width=”10″][vc_separator color=”white” border_width=”10″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
★★★★★ Affinity Photo and Designer | £39.99 each
The age of software subcriptions is upon us with Adobe Creative Suite charging hundreds of pounds a year. So we love Affinity for bringing all the features of Photoshop & Illustrator in a beautifully designed Apple Design award winning package for just £80 for the two. Check out the video below for a nice intro to the Affinity Designer app, which is more focussed on graphic design.
